The Criminal incidents are also continuously increasing, due to the rising drug problem in Haryana:-Kumari Selja

Himachali Khabar

The General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee, former Union Minister, and Member of Parliament from Sirsa Kumari Selja said that the network of drug smugglers is continuously spreading in Haryana. Throughout the state, drug smugglers are busy supplying heroin, marijuana, opium, and other deadly drugs. Due to the expanding network of drug smugglers, it seems as if Haryana has become their favorite state. After all, why is the police unable to break the drug smugglers’ network when people know where the drugs are being sold and who is selling them, but the police department remains unaware?

In a statement released to the media, Kumari Selja said that the BJP government in the state claims to break the backbone of drug smugglers and seize drugs worth crores of rupees; despite this, the smugglers’ network is rapidly spreading in the state. The echoes of drugs can be heard at every crossroads and even in the Assembly. The police should work at a war footing to demolish the fortress of drug smugglers and to bring young drug users back into the mainstream of society. Drug smugglers are active in most districts of the state. Even the intelligence system has proven weak against them. The truth is that the number of drug users is increasing, and accordingly, the demand for drugs is also rising. Addicts are ready to pay any price for drugs, even committing crimes for it. Therefore, to prevent drug abuse, the government must use all means—negotiation, persuasion, punishment, and discrimination—because the youth are safe, the country’s future is safe.

Kumari Selja said that the police have still not been able to correctly identify the drug smugglers and their routes. If they have identified the routes, then where are the drugs coming from in the state? Drugs first reach Punjab from Pakistan, and from Punjab, they are sent to other states. The districts of Sirsa and Fatehabad bordering Punjab are most affected. Drug consignments reach Rewari from Rajasthan, from where drugs are sent to the NCR. Large consignments come from Punjab to Delhi and then to other districts of Haryana. If common people know about these routes, why is the police department still unaware? Is our intelligence system weak, or are reports sent by the intelligence ignored? When a drug smuggler is caught, it becomes a success for the police. If the police meet with drug-affected families, they can gather much information. Villages declared drug-free still have ongoing drug trade. Simply passing resolutions for drug-free panchayats will not make the state drug-free; the roots of drug smugglers must be uprooted. The government must collect information from every village, town, and ward about who is involved in this trade and take such action that no one dares to deal in drugs again.
